Hello,
My family is from New Orleans. I was born in Los Angeles. I now live in New Jersey. At a local convenience store I heard a Fats Domino song. I didn't remember every hearing it before, "Whole Lotta Lovin for You". I heard some distinct Jazz and maybe ragtime influences that I don't hear on later songs. I really like Fats' music. I grew up on it and he is sort of like family. His second piano player, Reginald Hall (Rosemary's brother) married my mother's sister. So my first cousins are first cousins to Fats' children. I think I met Antione Jr. once. (smile) thanks for the web site.
A little about the Fats legacy in my family
Lot's of stories in my family about Fats. >From his extravagant house in the ninth ward of New Orleans, to getting to ride in his pink Cadillac, to the Aunt on my father's side of the family who ws courted by Fats, but she didn't think he was attractive. Now she wishes she hadn't been so picky. My mother's sister married Reginald Hall, Mrs. Rosemary Domino's brother. So, somehow, I have always felt Fats is in the family.
